Report back from Halesowen Valentines Strike

The acting Branch secretary at Halesowen College gave the following report back on the recent strike:

Brilliant day of action today – thanks to everyone around the country for all of the support which has meant a huge amount to us all – it has really helped us here at Halesowen to know that we are not on our own.  A special thanks to Kathy Taylor and John MacCormack who traveled from different ends of the country last night to be on our picket this morning. We tried to deliver the 12K+ petition calling for reinstatement but Senior Management refused to accept it.

With information coming out this week that Maths classes are still being covered by other departments, that the college is recruiting fixed term trainee Maths (and other) lecturers as a solution, and with 49% of teaching staff still now sackable by precedent for having below College average results, we will not be letting this drop. The fight continues!
