London black members network are organising an event to share experiences of working in the sector, and discuss how black workers can begin to address discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
The details : Confronting Racism in our Colleges and Universities – Wednesday 16 November 2016 at UCU Head Office, Carlow Street, London NW1 7LH from 4.00pm – 7.00pm.
The UCU survey in February 2016 found that nine out of ten (90%) black staff members report having faced barriers to promotion in colleges and universities, and felt their careers suffered as a result. We will also be discussing the sharp increase in racism post-Brexit and how we can empower ourselves to fight back alongside our colleagues at work.
Please forward the flyer blackmemberslaunch-003to your black members and support them if they need to get hours from work to attend.
